MONTREAL – The federal government has announced funding of nearly $750,000 for the Mauve Clinic, which provides care to LGBTQIA+ immigrant and racial communities.

According to a press release published by the government, the grant, granted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), “will allow the Mauve Clinic to increase its research on access to care for marginalized populations due to their sexual orientation, gender identity.” identity, migration status or ethnic identity, by promoting resource development and collaboration with related research teams and key stakeholders in Canada and abroad.

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault announced the subsidy in Montreal on Thursday.

“Improving integrated care and responding to the unique challenges these communities face helps foster a more inclusive and equitable health system for all Canadians,” said Minister Guilbeault.

Earlier in the day, Minister Randy Boissonnault, Canada’s special adviser to the Prime Minister on issues related to the LGBTQ2 community, announced that 15 projects, including the Mauve Clinic project, have been funded through a total investment of more than $11.5 million from the Council.
