Apparently, state offices for the protection of the constitution are preparing for the AfD in government. They want to cut off the flow of information.

According to a media report, if the AfD were to participate in a state government after the state elections in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia, the respective state office for the protection of the constitution would be cut off from the flow of information from the other offices for the protection of the constitution. A corresponding decision had already been made, reported the newspapers of the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (Thursday editions), citing security circles at the federal and state levels.

According to the media report, there is concern that if the AfD were to participate in the government, it could pass on information from a state office for the protection of the constitution to the federal association or other state associations. They could then react to it. In this respect, stopping the flow of information is only logical, according to the report, security circles said.

The AfD in Thuringia and Saxony as well as in Saxony-Anhalt is classified as proven right-wing extremist by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and is being monitored. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has so far classified the party’s federal association as a so-called suspected case.

However, he is not without controversy: AfD Bundestag member Klaus Stöber has expressed criticism of the role of party leader and top candidate Björn Höcke with regard to a possible government option for the AfD after the state elections in Thuringia. “Many in the AfD see him as an obstacle to assuming government responsibility,” Stöber told “Welt am Sonntag” at the weekend.
