The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has justified the opposing strategies of his party in Extremadura and in the Valencian Community, alleging that “the results” obtained on May 28 at the polls “are different” in one territory and in another. In the Valencian Community, the pact reached by the popular Carlos Mazón with the ultra formation includes changing the concept of sexist violence for intrafamily violence. In Extremadura, on the other hand, the leader of the PP, María Guardiola, affirms that she will not allow members of Vox to enter her government because she is not willing to “give away counselling, or enter into overcome cultural battles”, in reference to the sexist violence. Feijóo, however, has eliminated the ideological question from the equation this Wednesday. “With five deputies, it is not reasonable that [Vox] intends to preside over the Assembly. It’s disproportionate. The results in Valencia are totally different ”, he underlined. Vox achieved 8% of the votes in Extremadura and 13% in the Valencian Community on 28-M. Faced with this different need for the number of deputies in Valencia for the investiture than in Extremadura, “we have acted correctly, both in Valencia and in Extremadura”. “We are going to continue working with these principles”, stressed the president of the Popular Party in statements to the media after an act of the Reformismo21 foundation, in the Torre de Cristal in Madrid.
With these arguments, Feijóo also avoids positioning himself in favor of Guardiola’s swerve or Mazón’s agreement with Vox a week ago. But the PP president has charged Jorge Buxadé, Vox’s vice president of Political Action, whom he has accused of blowing up the agreement. “The elections that have just been held are elections of the citizens of the autonomous communities, I understand that it is the elected leaders who have to take the lead in the conversations. I do not agree that national leaders are going to specify or change preliminary talks. It is good that the agreements are closed between the representatives of the communities and not that the national leaders intervene ”, Feijóo has censured. Buxadé went to Mérida on Tuesday to supervise the negotiations. “We demand respect from our voters to be part of the Government to verify and ensure compliance with our pacts. The PP has understood it in Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Burgos, Toledo, Ciudad Real. Here the PP has to understand it because, in addition, it is not the most voted list ”, Buxadé threatened from the capital of Extremadura. Guardiola offered Vox the presidency of the Assembly, even with his reluctance in terms of violence against women, but no one has confirmed that there was a preliminary agreement between the two forces before Buxadé entered the scene, as Feijóo has slipped today.

In Extremadura and the Valencian Community, the PP necessarily needed a vote in favor of Vox to be able to invest their respective candidates as regional presidents. In the Balearic Islands, Aragon and the Region of Murcia, however, they only require your abstention. The PP responded this Tuesday to the request for face-to-face debates that the PSOE leadership had sent it for the July 23 elections with a counter-offer in which it does not rule them out —but neither did it fully clarify its position—, with the intention of provoke division between the two forces of the left and the two leaders who compete against Feijóo: Pedro Sánchez and Yolanda Díaz. The PP accepted by letter the duel requested by the PSOE from Sánchez with Feijóo, but states that Díaz also asks to participate, and does not specify what he would do if Sumar’s candidate demands to be in that debate. Some of the economic ideologues of the Popular Party have attended the meeting of the Reformismo21 foundation.
