Baumgartner called the editor-in-chief of the “Falter” a “pharmawhore” and “an idiot.” He was not legally convicted of insults and slander.

Stratospheric jumper Felix Baumgartner described the editor-in-chief of the Viennese weekly newspaper “Falter” as a “pharmawhore” and “firm idiot”. He was not legally convicted in Vienna for slander and insults. Baumgartner must therefore pay Klenk 5,000 euros in compensation, publish the judgment and delete the original posting.

The extreme athlete, who became famous for his stratospheric jump in 2012, insulted Klenk on Facebook in January after the journalist defended the corona vaccination. Specifically, Baumgartner wrote: “You must be a real idiot if you are vaccinated five times (!), keep getting Corona and then defend the vaccination. Bravo Florian Klenk #corona#impfung#impfpflicht#florianklenk#pharmaHure#falter.”

He was referring to a tweet from Klenk in which he wrote that he had been infected with the coronavirus for the second time, but that the illness was moderate due to the five vaccinations. Shortly after Baumgartner’s posting, Klenk announced that he would sue him.

At the end of February, the Vienna Regional Court for Criminal Matters decided that Baumgartner must make the initiation of the proceedings public on his Facebook page. The case was finally heard on Monday. The Falter editor-in-chief announced in advance that he wanted to donate the compensation to the Momo children’s hospice. (shev)
