The Brazilian fertility rate dropped to 1.6, the lowest ever recorded in the country’s historical series. Thus, the average number of children per woman is 1.6, while the world average is 2.1. The data are from the Report on the Situation of World Population, called “8 Billion Lives, Infinite Possibilities”, which was released this Tuesday, 11, by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the international development agency of the United Nations Organization (UN) dealing with population issues. The study points out that humanity needs to make decisions about sexual and reproductive health free of discrimination and violence. At the Brazildata from 2022 Census show that the Brazilian population has grown 6.45% since 2010. The growth rate was 0.52% per year, the lowest level in the historical series. In addition, the report points out that 66% of humanity lives in countries with a fertility rate below the replacement level, which is 2.1 children per woman.
