Interior and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the supply of fertilizer will be normal. Farmers will have no shortage of fertilizers.

He said these things in a meeting on coordination and monitoring of overall activities to deal with crop damage due to sudden floods in various districts in the meeting room of the ministry on Saturday (August 31).

The advisor directed everyone to extend all kinds of assistance to the affected farmers as soon as possible.

It was informed in the meeting that crops have been damaged in 23 out of 27 districts of the country affected by ongoing floods. The amount of damaged crop land is 2 lakh 8 thousand 573 hectares. Out of which Aush plantation is 38 thousand 689 hectares, Ropa Amon plantation is 1 lakh 41 thousand 609 hectares, Bona Amon is 764 hectares, Ropa Amon Bijtala is 14 thousand 908 hectares and vegetables are 11 thousand 290 hectares.

The total loss in crop production is 9 lakh 86 thousand 214 metric tons. The amount of financial loss is 3 thousand 346 crore taka. The number of affected farmers is 14 lakh 14 thousand 89 people.

The Ministry of Agriculture is giving incentives to 80,000 farmers in the most affected 9 districts. This includes rice seeds, fertilizers and cash assistance. So far, 13 crore 66 lakh taka has been allocated for the farmers from the ministry.
