Today, the EU Council adopted a regulation on the digital labeling of fertilizer products. The regulation promotes the use of digital labels on EU products for fertilization and keeping physical labels where necessary. It also improves label readability and simplifies labeling obligations for suppliers.
The digital labels it will have a life of at least 10 years since the product was placed on the market.
The regulation ensures the availability of information through physical channels to protect vulnerable users or people with limited digital skills. Digital labels will also be offered for products sold in bulk, provided that the required information is also displayed in a physical format in a prominent place at the point of sale. The Commission will be empowered to update the common requirements for digital labeling by means of delegated acts.
Once the regulation has been signed by the President of the European Parliament and the President of the Council, it will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force three days later.
