In the center of the village, the excitement is palpable, but at 3 PM on the opening day of the 2024 festival edition, it’s not hard to find a free table on the terrace for the obligatory initiatory beer. The doors to the Fluvial Beach of Taboão will only open in two hours. Lunches are wrapped up, the mix in the pedestrian street, the ‘Coura lower zone’, consists of locals, returning emigrants for the temporary August, and festival-goers who have just arrived. The others have already been ‘living’ here for several days (there were ‘warm-up’ concerts in the previous days), lingering in the camping areas, on the banks of and in the River Coura, between swims, hangovers, hangover swims, and the good life that they offer themselves every year in the first half of August.
