Like many cities in France, Épernay (Marne), capital of champagne, empties a little of its inhabitants during the summer holidays. However, it receives many tourists, who can also enjoy summer entertainment. In particular its music festival, the aptly named Voi(x)là l’été, which is experiencing its 8th edition this year.

“We will be in line with what we did last year, in a post-covid context, with mainly outdoor concert evenings, explains Sophie Herscher-Bousseau, deputy mayor in charge of culture. People want to go out, make discoveries, share moments of conviviality around different musical styles. »

The cultural affairs department has set up a program that combines talents from the Grand Est with artists who are starting to make a name for themselves on the national scene and has hired a headliner, Bertrand Belin. “We are very happy to receive an artist of this caliber”, rejoices Sébastien Horzinski, director of cultural affairs for the city. All concerts will be free.

The success for all of the Halle Apéros

With this eclectic festival which brings together nearly 3,500 people each year, the municipality is pursuing a policy that has been in place for several years: to animate the city for the benefit of the inhabitants, but also of tourists. Visitors do not come on purpose to attend the concerts, but the festival contributes to strengthening the attractiveness of a territory which aims to exceed the two nights of average length of stay. “A tourist space has been created for several years in Épernay, observes Roxane de Varine, president of the tourist office of Épernay. This festival is a cultural project aimed at our inhabitants, but which also benefits visitors who we wish to welcome as locals. By working on magnificent spots, it allows us to highlight our equipment, our cultural and recreational places, to create a link between the inhabitants and the tourists. »

Aware of the room for improvement that still exists for Épernay to become an essential destination, the elected official takes the example of an event deployed fairly recently and which has met with dazzling success: the Apéros de la Halle. Imagined in 2018, these convivial evenings organized every last Friday of the month under the Saint-Thibault market have been a hit since the end of the health crisis. “It was thought above all for the inhabitants of the territory, but it is clear that today, a large part of tourists participate in it. The last Apéros de la halle thus brought together more than 2,000 people
