Feud Erupts Between Comedians: Markos Seferlis Fires Back at Fotis Sergoulopoulos’ Criticism

by time news
With two new videos from Fotis Sergoulopoulos, in which he satirized Christos Santikai and the Cypriots, Markos Seferlis continued the feud he has opened with his colleague and ERT presenter, following the criticism directed at him.

“Here, Fotis Sergoulopoulos is ‘mocking’ a small child, Christos Santikai! Wasn’t this small child feeling sad then?” wrote Markos Seferlis in the caption of the first video.

“Here, Fotis Sergoulopoulos is ‘mocking’ the Cypriots! Weren’t the Cypriots feeling sad then?” Seferlis added regarding the second video.

Markos Seferlis’s responses to Fotis Sergoulopoulos had started earlier with another video, in which he addressed the criticism directed at him, stating, among other things, “studios are not an arena for you to be able to tear apart your colleagues.”

The well-known comedian has faced backlash in recent days for his impersonation of Nemo, the non-binary individual who won Eurovision 2024, as his performance at the Delphinarium was considered homophobic.

“The Delphinarium is not an arena to throw beasts to eat people” was the line from Sergoulopoulos on the air of his show, “Proian se idon,” which provoked Seferlis’s reaction.

Although Fotis Sergoulopoulos did not specifically name Markos Seferlis in his statement, the comedian later posted a video on his Instagram account, asserting that he is doing satire, something that Fotis Sergoulopoulos should know since he is an actor as well, emphasizing that what he has been doing successfully for many years and urging the presenter to do “his job.”

Initially, he said: “Fotis Sergoulopoulos: ‘The Delphinarium is not an arena to throw people in and have the beasts devour them.’ Obviously, he said that about me, because I am the person who has had the Delphinarium all these years and the beasts have been trying to devour me all these years, but without success. My dear Fotis, the studios of state television, which are funded by the Greek taxpayer, are not an arena for you to be able to tear apart your colleagues, theatrical performances, and the audience that watches these performances because they do not agree with your opinion.”

He continued: “The Delphinarium is theater and does satire, this satire that thousands of spectators come to see every year and laugh their hearts out. And since you are an actor, you know how satire has been done since ancient times. So, you do your job, and I’ll do my job, the one I have been successfully doing all these years, which of course you have never seen. Nevertheless, you have an opinion. The conclusions are yours.”
