The calm in the fields. The number of participants in the Teknival, installed by surprise in a small village in Indre since Thursday, “started to flow back” overnight and was on Sunday morning below 25,000 people still present on the site, announced the prefecture . “The atmosphere remains calm” and there have been no major incidents since the start of the Teknival on private agricultural land in Villegongis, welcomes the Indre prefecture in its situation report.
30,000 people at the height of the festival
At the height of the festival, which was celebrating its 30th anniversary and had not been able to take place since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, around 30,000 people were present. The gathering was prohibited by the authorities who, however, deployed an important medical, sanitary and logistical system – with in particular the requisition of bottles of drinking water – in order to ensure the safety of the event.
“387 gendarmes are engaged during the day (Sunday) to ensure the security of Teknival and in particular traffic and controls around it, accompanying the gradual end of the event”, indicates the press release from the prefecture.
The prefect of Indre, Stéphane Bredin, has drawn up a “traffic plan” with the neighboring municipalities to facilitate the dissolution of Teknival, where hundreds of vehicles had converged on Thursday, clogging up the small roads serving the site for several kilometers. “In order to best guarantee road safety on the axes from the site, a large number of breathalyzers are made available to participants by the State and associations, and a temporary car park will be set up”, specifies the prefecture.
Nearly 10,000 people checked
“Reinforced checks” will also be carried out by the police. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the gendarmes checked 9,522 people (15,228 since Thursday) and 3,423 vehicles (5,370 in total), with 47 verbalizations for driving under the influence of narcotics, 10 for driving in a state of drunkenness and 293 for possession of narcotics.
In addition, “police checks have been put in place since yesterday (Saturday) at points by which participants join the main traffic axes to leave Indre, in particular on this day of return from an extended weekend. »
On the health and medical level, the results of the night remained limited thanks to the preventive actions carried out on the site by the associations and the marauding relief, as well as by the presence of the firefighters and emergency teams, welcomes the prefecture . The rescuers took care of 109 participants overnight (450 since Thursday) and the advanced medical post installed in the center of Villegongis recorded 19 entries (101 in total).
