For its part, the Bundesliga club announced that there had been chaotic scenes before the entrance to the guest block. Hundreds of supporters who had traveled with them complained not only of extremely long waiting times in front of the De Kuip stadium, but also of excessive police operations and arbitrary arrests. The followers reported targeted attacks by the aggressive officials on social media.

On Wednesday evening, a Union delegation fell victim to an attack by 25 angry people in a bar. Union President Dirk Zingler (57) and managing director Oskar Kosche (54) were among those attacked in the “De Huismeester” bar.
A club employee had to go to hospital with circulatory problems, but was later released. One waiter sustained cuts on his hands and arms.
