During this magnificent show entitled “Traversées”, the troupe transported festival-goers through the paths and worlds of African and Persian music, to the rhythm of melodies, strings and Sufi poems from the Middle Ages and later periods.

The Canadian troupe, which quickly won over the audience, brilliantly performed Arabic, Persian and Turkish musical melodies in dazzling harmony to discover the manifestations of Sufism, love, beauty and spirituality.

It is a musical show that combines melodies, words and poems, a true quest for ancient treasures inhabited by medieval manuscripts and Sufi poems throughout the world.

The Canadian Ensemble “Constantinople” is composed of Kiya Tabassian (Canada), leader of the group, singer and player of “star” (a musical instrument of Persian origin with four strings), Ablaye Cissoko (Senegal), singer and player of “kora” (a multi-stringed instrument), and Patrick Graham (Canada) who plays various musical instruments.

The group, founded by musician Kiya Tabassian, has chosen to travel around the world and different civilizations and cultures, in a sustained quest to discover sources of refined melodies to enrich them with modern musical creations, with a view to sharing them with the public during concerts via platforms and social networks.

This new edition of the Festival puts Spain in the spotlight with a program, shows and fusions of artists from both countries, testifying to the historical and friendly ties that bind the peninsula and Morocco for a better future.

True to the spirit of Fez, this edition offers an eclectic program open to the cultures and spiritualities of the world, bringing together renowned musicians such as the great star of Sufi music Sami Yusuf, the virtuoso flamenco player Vicente Amigo, as well as original musical creations such as Yatra-Safar which promises a spiritual journey from the palaces of Rajasthan to the gates of Andalusia or the Stabat Mater concert, conducted by Maestro Paolo Olmi.

The festival also hosts the Gospel Philharmonic Experience, bringing together the great American diva Kim Burrell, accompanied by the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain conducted by Pascal Horecka.
