Fez Festival of World Sacred Music: an Indo-Moroccan heritage musical show enchants the audience

The audience was transported on a journey into the worlds of divine creativity, where the Indian melodies of Rajasthan mingled with those of the Kingdom in an atmosphere of coexistence, dialogue and openness to other cultures.

In this show, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, grand master of this Indian guitar with bluesy accents called “mohan vînâ”, accompanied by Justin Adams, the famous guitarist of all worlds, the Sufi voices of Desert Slide, the Ensemble Divana, Anwar Khan Manganiyar, the singer Cherifa or Adil Jebbari rubbed shoulders with the telluric and rhythmic beats of the Hmadcha brotherhood, thus celebrating the power of a deep and inspired beauty.

This 90-minute Sufi show highlighted this Spirit of Andalus marked by the cultural coexistence that the region and other Mediterranean countries have witnessed for centuries.

In a statement to MAP, Master Vishwa Mohan Bhatt expressed his great admiration for the historic site Bab El Makina, saying he was happy to share this moment of joy and music with the Fassi public.

This marriage between Indian and Moroccan music proves that music is a universal language that contributes to strengthening the values ​​of peace and love, he said, noting that Indian music is characterized by flexibility and openness to musical styles and heritage from other cultures.

The Moqaddam of the Hamadcha Brotherhood of Fez, Abderrahim Amrani said he appreciated this show which harmoniously combined Indian heritage and Moroccan music, notably the songs of the Hmadcha, the praises to the prophet and the Amazigh songs.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Festival will be held from May 24 to June 1 under the theme “The Quest for the Spirit of Al-Andalus”.

In this new edition, Spain was chosen as guest of honor to celebrate the historical and present ties that unite Spain and Morocco.

The 27th edition of this festival, a special moment of the spirit of living together, dialogue and tolerance, is marked by a musical program bringing together several artists and troupes from both countries who will express through their fusions and their shows this particular dimension of openness, harmony and living together for a better future.

This unmissable event, which is now one of the largest cultural events in the world, also includes the participation of artists representing several countries.

These include, among others, the singer of Syrian origin Naïssam Jalal, Nedyalko Nedyalkov Quartet (Bulgaria), Khadija El Afrit (Tunisia), Walid Benselim, Young Musicians European Orchestra, and Madalena (female choir), in addition to Sufi nights.
