In Fez, the faithful, including students from Koranic schools, gathered at the Imam Malik Mosque to implore, in a climate of piety and meditation, the Almighty to spread beneficial rains on earth as a sign of mercy for His creatures, perpetuating the tradition of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, may peace and salvation be upon Him, whenever rainfall is rare.
These prayers were performed in the presence of the Wali of the Fez-Meknes Region, Governor of the Fez Prefecture, Said Zniber and the President of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, as well as representatives of local authorities and many personalities.
These prayers were also performed in other cities of the Fez-Meknes region, in the presence of the governors of the provinces of Meknes, Taza, Ifrane, Touanate and Sefrou.
In their sermons, the imams emphasized the importance of asking Allah for forgiveness during trials to alleviate worries, soothe difficulties, and benefit from God’s clemency and mercy.
At the end of the prayers, the faithful implored the Almighty to preserve HM King Mohammed VI, to fulfill the Sovereign in the persons of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and all the members of the Illustrious Royal Family, and to spare the country from the scarcity of rains and any ordeal.
The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs announced on Thursday that on the orders of HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, rogatory prayers (salat al-istisqa) will be performed on Friday in prayer areas (mousallas) and large mosques throughout all regions and provinces of the Kingdom.
