FFF: barely left, Le Graët finds a position at… Fifa

by time news

Noël Le Graët will not be unemployed for long. At 81, the man who submitted his resignation on Tuesday morning, following the publication of numerous investigations and an internal audit at the FFF highlighting problematic behavior and several cases of sexual harassment, will very soon find a job at FIFA.

It was Éric Borghini, close to Le Graët and member of the Comex, who announced it at the end of the meeting on Tuesday morning, during which the Breton announced his resignation. “The president was appointed to FIFA by Gianni Infantino. He will head the Paris office. He was appointed because of his skills, expertise and experience. “He will continue his career, he has a job that starts at Fifa”, for his part dropped Vincent Labrune, president of the Professional Football League (LFP).

Noël Le Graët, a member of the FIFA Council since 2019, has in recent years been one of Gianni Infantino’s rare supporters within UEFA, despite the opposition of the President of the European Confederation, Alexander Ceferin, to the many controversial projects of the Swiss leader, such as that aborted of a World Cup every two years. Le Graët had also supported Infantino when he was elected head of Fifa in 2016.

In June 2021, Fifa set up an office in Paris, in offices located in the Hôtel de la Marine. Noël Le Graët, as well as Emmanuel Macron, had, at the time, attended the inauguration of these new offices. In recent days, Gianni Infantino was also in Paris, where he notably met within these same offices the president of the confederation of Oceania. For the moment, the date of the taking office of Le Graët in his new position is not known.
