FGK provides funds for social development in communities

The Program, which works under a competitive funding scheme, also promotes the strengthening of people’s capacities so that they generate appropriate solutions to the different social challenges that their communities face.

San Salvador. The Gloria Kriete Foundation (FGK) through its Helping Those Who Help program provided funds to various non-governmental organizations for the execution of different Community Projects throughout the country.

This is the 17th edition of the program, which also finances projects that promote Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship entities.

In this edition of the program and under the Community Development category, 20 community organizations, including Adescos, cooperatives and School Centers, benefited from economic funds for the development of their projects.

The projects were funded through Helping Those Who Help for a total amount of $229,400, benefiting more than 10,789 people directly and indirectly throughout the country.

The funds will be used to solve different social challenges such as the lack of sanitation in more than six communities, repair of perimeter walls and construction of access to main streets, equipping schools with innovative technology, rehabilitation of schools, construction and improvement of communal houses, construction of a fast soccer and basketball field in a communal house, drainage works and hydraulic systems, etc.

To date, for the Community Development category, the Gloria Kriete Foundation has made a social investment of $895,000 in funds awarded to 96 high social impact initiatives, thus benefiting more than 90,000 people throughout the country.

The evaluation procedure for Helping Those Who is duly audited by the auditing firm Elías & Asociados, which guarantees the process of selection and delivery of funds to the winning organizations, to give greater transparency and credibility to it.

The organizations in the Community Development category of Ayudando a Quis Ayudan that obtained funds in this edition of the program are 20 in total, among them, as an example, the Guachipilin Community Development Association of San Pedro Puxtla, which received US$10,500 for the realization of a set paving of 600 square meters and 120 square meters of curb on the slope of the entrance of an important local road
