The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced that it has obtained sentences of up to 177 years in prison for seven individuals who were part of a criminal structure operating in the departments of La Libertad, La Paz and Sonsonate. The sentences were imposed by the Fifth Court Against Organized Crime, in recognition of the seriousness of the crimes committed.

The defendants faced serious charges, including five counts of aggravated homicide, proposal and conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated robbery and illicit associations. The importance of the case is reflected in the long prison sentences handed down, which underline the FGR’s commitment to the fight against organized crime.

The convicted men are former members of the police forces, a circumstance that aggravates the betrayal of public trust and the seriousness of their crimes. The sentences imposed are as follows:

  • Jose Dionisio Hernandez Gamez: 84 years in prison
