The aging Fiat Panda has just received another special edition, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the Panda 4×4 nameplate. Paying homage to the debut year of the original, Fiat will only make 1,983 units of the nostalgic Panda 4×40° that will be available exclusively in Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland.

The Fiat Panda 4×40° is based on the 4×4 version of the third generation model, which has remained largely unchanged since 2011. The special edition features the Panda Cross bodywork painted in a solid ivory hue, featuring multiple touches.

The body-colored side moldings feature 4×40° red lettering combined with matching graphics of Panda silhouettes under the rear side windows. The model comes equipped with a new set of 15-inch steel wheels repurposed from Stellantis, painted white with custom center caps. It also gets red tow hooks, black roof rails and privacy glass.

Inside, the Ivory theme continues in the upholstery of the seats, with recycled fabric, double stitching and red accents. In addition to the 4×40° badges, we find the silhouettes of the first generation Panda 4×4 and the third generation Panda on each of the front seats alongside the letters 1983 and 2023.

Standard equipment includes the 7-inch infotainment system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift, automatic air conditioning, electric and heated mirrors, automatic lights and wipers, height-adjustable driver’s seat and rear parking sensors, which is pretty much everything. that you can get from a Panda these days.

Does Fiat already have a price?

There is no mention of technical specifications, which will be announced later. The Panda 4×4 was out of production, so we don’t know if the previous model’s 0.9-liter Twin Air turbocharger and two-cylinder gasoline engine will return. In any case, the power will be transmitted to the four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox with the help of a suitable 4WD system.

Fiat has not released prices for the Panda 4×40°, which is described as a “collector’s edition”. The model will make an appearance at the upcoming “Panda a Pandino 2023” event taking place in Italy next weekend. Despite its age, the current generation Fiat Panda will last until 2026, although its all-electric successor is expected to debut in 2024 with a crossover stance.
