Qatar: International football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken about his retirement.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time goalscorer in international football, recently scored his 700th club goal of his professional career and 800 goals in international football. Ronaldo won the Euro 2016 World Cup with Portugal in an emotional moment. But Ronaldo’s best effort in the World Cup series was in 2006 when he reached the semi-finals. Ronaldo is on course to break the record of Pele, Miroslav Klose and Uwe Seiler to score at the World Cup for the fifth time in a row.
However, this could be his last World Cup series. Because he is 37. Amidst all this talk, Ronaldo has been interviewed before the start of the World Cup. In it, he talked about retirement. “I will play for two to three more years at the most. 40 will be the right age for retirement. I want to complete my football career then. But you never know what will happen in the future. Sometimes things you plan don’t happen and life keeps changing,” he said.
At the same time, in response to another question, Ronaldo said, “If my team wins the World Cup, I will end my football career and retire.”
