The jersey of three decades ago
The Argentine player scored a controversial goal against England in the quarter-final match of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. With only six minutes remaining in the second half, he hit the ball into the goal net with his hand. Even though the England goalkeeper argued that the goal was scored with his hand, the referee allowed the goal. Maradona then responded that it was the hand of God. Four minutes later, Maradona’s goal became one of the most beautiful goals in the history of the World Cup. Hailed as one of the best footballers in the world, Diego Maradona passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60.
