Fifteen years in prison required for a former “not crazy” guru tried for rape

UA fifteen-year prison sentence was requested Thursday against former guru Gabriel Loison, “leader obsessed with sex” tried before the criminal court of Loire-Atlantique for rape of vulnerable people and abuse of weakness.

The Advocate General requested fifteen years of criminal imprisonment accompanied by a partial confusion of ten years with a previous sentence pronounced for similar facts in 2017 by the Assize Court of Appeal of Ille-et-Vilaine. Gabriel Loison was detained in 2011.

During his requisitions, the Advocate General pointed to the “desire for domination” of a “not crazy” man, for whom sex is an “obsession behind which his whole system hides”.

Four former followers of the “University of Nature and Ecology of the Relationship”, three women and a man, accuse its founder of sexual assault and rape, also evoking blows and humiliation.

The 82-year-old former guru, white hair swept back and goatee, who has been appearing since Monday, denounced from the dock a “culture of lies”, explaining in a hoarse voice that he had only ever had sex consented.

Asked during the hearing about fellatio that he would have imposed on one of the victims, Gabriel Loison shrugs his shoulders. “I didn’t ejaculate, it was to teach him how to do it. I took no pleasure in it,” he says.

About a former follower who accuses him of inserting a finger into her vagina without her consent, he calmly replies: “There is no sexual nature in that.”

According to him, this “exploration” practiced “during therapy” and to which this woman would have consented, was supposed to cure her “breathing problems”.

“Little soldier”

The ex-companion of Gabriel Loison, tried for complicity and acquitted during the first trial, was this time on the bench of the civil parties.

Julie Baschet, 48, explains that she was “brainwashed” and was Gabriel Loison’s “sex slave” for five years.

“I became a real little soldier,” she recalls between sobs.

At the bar, arms crossed behind her back, she recounts the hands of Gabriel Loison passed under her dress and on her chest from her “initiation”, then the “grip” of a man who makes her “cut off the dialogue with the society”.

In a trembling voice, she describes an extremely violent sodomy that would have “tore her to pieces”.

Statements “signed Judas”, swept the accused during his interrogation.

When the president asks him if he used condoms during group sex and his outings in swingers’ clubs, he replies: “For what?”

“Feather”

Former guru of the “Gardens of life”, listed as a sect by the parliamentary committee on sects in 1995, Gabriel Loison then founded the “University of the nature and ecology of the relationship”, presented as a collective of research that trained “Masters of health” through various courses.

To his future followers, Gabriel Loison offered a first test session in Morocco. “The initiation” continued with a three-week stay in Costa Rica or Spain billed at 10,000 euros. Then came a 72-day course with tantrism and group sex.

One of the complainants claims to have suffered during a stay a “punitive sodomy” committed by followers with sex toys but orchestrated by Gabriel Loison.

“It was a whole process of seeing myself as a victim. In those years, I may have had sex with people who felt forced,” said the young man, head down.

When he joined “University” at the age of 20, he explains that he felt “honored” to be part of a “small elite” which gave him the impression of being “on the good side, like in The Lord of the Rings “.

The young man took out “five or six loans” in five years to finance lessons and stays. “Loison plucked people, it was an abyss.”

The verdict is expected Thursday evening.
