Informative alerts are a hallmark of Dialnet. When the project was prepared, in 2001, one of its objectives was to replace the summary bulletins that were prepared in each library by an alert system. By working in a collaborative environment, the libraries avoided duplicating work to create very similar products that only met the needs of their small community of users, and at the same time, they were able to dedicate those efforts to build together a very powerful and unique information system. the world by its characteristics.
In Dialnet each user can define the magazines whose contents you are most interested inand that means that when a new issue of those “favorite” magazines is published, you receive an email alert indicating its contents and in many cases you are given access to the full text of those contents.
We have reached that symbolic figure of 50 million alerts issued in the year in which the 20th anniversary of the project is celebrated, logically having an exponential growth based on the increase in registered users. In 2020 almost four million alerts were already issued and in the first ten months of 2021 a figure similar to that of last year has already been reached.
