The Spanish Moto2 rider Alonso López (Speed Up), who is currently fourth in the World Championship standings, knows that to fight for the title he has to “achieve many small objectives”, but that the main thing he wants is to “enjoy on the motorcycle”.
“In these first races I have set myself the goal of enjoying myself because sometimes I am too obsessed with fighting for the title and I forget to enjoy myself. From the points and the results I had last year, I know that you can dream about it, but I have to enjoy myself, because I do what I like the most and on top of that I travel all over the world. Fighting for the championship is a consequence of achieving many small objectives”, declared Alonso López in an interview provided this Tuesday by Estrella Galicia 0,0, one of their sponsors.
After leaving the World Cup in 2021, the Madrid rider returned to the European Championship, where he met his current teammate Fermín Aldeguer, with whom he enjoyed “a lot” in an experience in which they improved “each other”, although the victory was for the Murcian. Shortly after, he returned to the World Championship. “I thought I was at a point where I no longer had anything else and that’s when Boscoscuro arrives and gives me the opportunity to run in the World Cup,” he explained.
This return made him mature “a lot in a very short time”, since he went to live alone, but he understood that continuing to compete was “a gift” and he focused on enjoying it. “I do first the first time I get on the bike. I hadn’t gotten on a Moto2 for about six months and I thought, ‘Careful’, but I got to the first race and it was the same. I took it well and really enjoyed last year, I had not enjoyed it like this in my life. Without a doubt, it is the year I remember best,” he concluded.
