Shin Ji-ah (16, Sehwa Girls’ High School), a rising star in the Korean figure skating women’s singles, chose ‘Adios Nonino’, which was performed by ‘figure skating queen’ Kim Yuna 10 years ago, as the song for her short program for the new season.

All That Sports, Shin Ji-ah’s management company, released Shin Ji-ah’s 2024-2025 season program song on the 8th.

Shin Ji-ah, who won a silver medal in the women’s singles and a gold medal in the team event at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, as well as a silver medal for three consecutive years at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships, chose “Adios Nonino” as the new short program song for the 2024-2025 season and “Daphnis et Chlo?” for the free program.

The short program song, ‘Adios Nonino’, is a work by Davis Wilson, who is well known as Yuna Kim’s choreographer.

It is also famous as the music for Yuna Kim’s last free skating in the 2013-2014 season.

The free program music, ‘Daphnis and Chloe’, is a ballet piece by French composer Maurice Ravel, and is a piece that depicts the adventure and love story of a boy and girl unfolding in a pastoral landscape.

The program’s choreography was created by Canadian choreographer Laurie Niccol.

Shin Ji-ah explained, “The short program, ‘Adios Nonino,’ is a fascinating tango program, and it is a song that I actively gave my opinion on as it is my final season as a junior. I hope you will pay attention to the point movements that capture the nuances of tango while dancing to the beat of the music.”

He continued, “The free program ‘Daphnis and Chloe’ is a piece recommended by choreographer Lori Nicole. Chloe experiences love and adventure to the fantastic music that changes continuously throughout the program. There is a story behind every single movement, and my goal is to fully convey all the stories to the audience.”

Shin Ji-ah, who prepared for the new season with a Canadian training camp, will compete in the 2024 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix Series Delegation Athlete Selection Tournament held at Uijeongbu Indoor Ice Rink on the 20th and 21st of this month.
