The Norwegian Johannes Boe won his first individual victory of the season on Saturday at the end of the sprint in Kontiolahti (Finland), the opening stage of the Biathlon World Cup. Quentin Fillon Maillet, holder of the big crystal globe, only ranked 14th despite a 9/10 in shooting, like Boe, 1 min 16 sec 3/10th behind the Norwegian.
Norway achieves a double for this first sprint of the winter: behind Boe, who seizes the yellow bib of leader of the general classification, Sturla Laegreid finishes second at 10 sec 5/10th with a clear round behind the rifle. The German Roman Rees, already third in the individual on Tuesday, completes the podium (+28.8). He did not miss a single target in two individual races on the Finnish shooting range. The chase is scheduled for Sunday at 1:15 p.m. local time.
