“Film about love and solidarity”

by time news

One of the main national films of 2024 hits theaters this Thursday (25). “Our Home 2: Messengers”, a continuation of the 2010 film, premieres with the expectation of attracting a large audience. 13 years ago, more than four million people attended the production inspired by the work of Chico Xavier.

Messengers will tell the story of three people who failed in their spiritual missions on Earth. When they planned their life and the project they intended to carry out, they were enthusiastic and full of courage. But incarnated life takes them away from their true purposes, and learning ends up coming in another way.

One of the protagonists is Fernando, played by the actor Rafael Sieg. Em exclusive interview with the TV Cultura websitehe reveals how he was called to the role and his involvement with the entire team.

“I received the invitation with great enthusiasm, given the success of the first film. When we receive an invitation of this size, it is a great opportunity to be part of a high-grossing project. I was very happy and moved by this call”, explains Sieg.

From the first film, the actors return Renato Prietowho plays the protagonist Andre Luiz, and Othon Bastos, as Anacleto. The main reinforcement for the cast in the new film is Edson Celulari. Sieg describes the experience of working with big names in the country’s audiovisual industry.

“Edson Celulari is a master! He’s a guy who’s been doing theater, cinema and television for a long time. He has a very high level of experience, as high as his generosity in sharing his experience, and sharing it in the most generous and loving way on stage,” he says.

Experience with spiritualism

One of Sieg’s strengths in getting into the cast and participating in the production is his contact with religion. The actor says that his family ran a spiritist center on the north coast of Santa Catarina. Furthermore, he attended a center when he lived in Porto Alegre. Despite not being a practitioner, he has a lot of knowledge.

“I haven’t read the book”Messengers‘, because I got to the film very close to the recording period. I already knew the doctrine, I had read other books and I understood this universe, this doctrine that looks at reincarnation, planning a life, the challenges of being incarnated, the challenges of being here and evolving. That’s what the film is about: overcoming ourselves, our challenges and evolving spiritually. I already understood that,” he explains.

Fernando, Sieg’s character, is not part of the spiritual core of the film. He is in the group on earth, with reincarnated spirits, but who deviate from their mission.

“[Meu papel] It is more linked to humanizing a person who has a purpose taken from the spiritual plane, but who, incarnated here, has not committed himself. He was supposed to be a generous guy, collaborate with other characters and support the existence of a spiritist house. He comes to land, has money and doesn’t commit to helping anyone,” he says.

Evolution of the first film

In 2010, the special effects used in the film were praised by the public. 13 years later, technology has advanced and production has invested even more for “Messengers”.

“The effects are beautiful, they will enchant the audience with their colors, shapes and lights. The size of the city of Nosso Lar is much more visible. It’s very magical”, he explains.

For the new adaptation, Sieg believes that the viewer will connect with the visual beauty and find characters who are deeply humanized in their challenges.

Can people of other religions see the film?

Even though it is a film about a belief, Sieg believes that anyone can see the film and connect with it. In his words, the film is much more about love than religious dogmas.

“A film that talks about love, purpose, generosity, compassion and solidarity. This is what permeates any religion. I think that’s reason enough for us to share the idea of ’let’s watch a movie’ or ‘let’s think about this together’, because that’s universal, right?”, he concludes.
