Tel Aviv: Uri Klein (76), a film critic for the Israeli newspaper time, has died. Klein, who worked at time for 35 years, is the co-founder of Close-Up, Israel’s leading film magazine. He died on Friday due to organ failure due to infection.

Klein, who began his professional career in 1987, was awarded the Sokolov Prize for excellence in media work in Israel in 2007. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Jerusalem Film Festival. Klein started doing close-ups with friends while studying at university.

Klein was born in 1946 in Tel Aviv. Klein studied English and French literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and studied film at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University. He also studied film at New York University. Later, he taught film theory and history at Tel Aviv University. His wife is Irma.
