Film distribution in Morocco is experiencing remarkable growth (CCM manager)
Marrakech – The film distribution sector in Morocco is experiencing remarkable growth with the emergence of specialized distributors with varied editorial lines, said Wednesday in Marrakech the president of the Commission of the Fund for assistance with digitization, renovation and creation of theaters at the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), Mohamed Khouna.
In a statement to MAP on the occasion of the 20th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival (November 24-December 2), Mr. Khouna highlighted the importance of this culture of specialization which is beginning to take hold in the sector and which allows for an in-depth understanding of the target audience while promoting controlled growth of distributed films.
Mr. Khouna, also an expert in film distribution, noted that the sector now covers a wide range of Moroccan and foreign productions, including auteur films, educational films and ecological films, specifying that distribution is a process that aims to protect both distributors and operators.
Furthermore, the official noted that the cinematographic landscape lives to the rhythm of structuring projects which have helped propel Moroccan cinema to new heights, welcoming the growing success of Moroccan films with which the public “can easily identify” and the emergence of a real cartoon production sector which “is gradually taking its place in our country”.
Mr. Khouna welcomed, in the same context, the reopening of several cinemas throughout the Kingdom, a measure which will contribute to broadening the circle of cinema enthusiasts and promoting national film production.
