In a special way, as she wished, friends of Demis Georgiou, her family, and her future wife, Maria Lena Xyromeriti, said their final goodbye to their beloved girl at the First Cemetery of Athens.
Demis Georgiou, the talented chef who departed this life too early, had requested that if something happened to her, everyone should wear white, not cry, and offer whatever they could to the stray animals of Paros. And that’s exactly what all those who loved her organized—there were quite a few. Almost everyone came dressed in white or black and white clothes to bid her farewell.
Shortly before the ceremony began, her relatives informed the cameras and photographers present for the funeral of Demis Georgiou, who left this world so unfairly and suddenly, that the family does not wish for coverage of these very personal moments, and of course, their wish was respected.
Immediately after, her friends had booked a bar in Mets where they would gather in her memory, in a youthful atmosphere, as she had wished.
The talented chef, who departed this life too early, had requested that if something happened to her, everyone should wear white, not cry, and offer whatever they could to the stray animals of Paros.
Demis Georgiou was working in Paros when she suffered an acute bacterial infection, which caused her to lose consciousness on the evening of last Saturday, July 20, and be taken to the hospital. The next morning, she was airlifted from the health center in Paros to Athens, where, almost 24 hours later, the 39-year-old former Master Chef contestant could not make it and passed away, spreading sadness among her friends and relatives.
Devastated, her partner, with whom she was preparing to marry in two months with a civil wedding
Just hours after the unfortunate news of the 39-year-old chef’s death, Maria Lena Xyromeriti moved her followers with her post, through which she bids farewell to her partner.
“So suddenly and abruptly you took away my smile, my joy, and my happiness. I hope you are in some sea watching sunsets like the ones we watched from our balcony in Paros. To be jet skiing and smiling. To be eating shellfish lying on golden sandy beaches. I miss you unbearably, I search for your voice and your presence in every corner.”
The beach party in Paros after her funeral
The former MasterChef contestant and her partner were set to marry this coming September in Paros, at a large party that would take place on the beach. For this reason, Demis Georgiou had purchased a jet ski for them to enjoy rides in the sea.
In fact, her friends are planning to hold this beach party on the island in the coming days at sunset. The famous chef had requested that a party be organized as if it were her wedding, everyone dressed in white, and laughing. Furthermore, there would be rides in the sea with the jet ski.
During these days, the chef’s home in Pagkrati remains open for friends and acquaintances who wish to visit in her memory.
