Final report on customs submitted to the President

The final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Sri Lanka Customs has been submitted to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The report was submitted by High Court Judge Shiran Gunaratne.

A six-member commission was appointed on February 24 last year to investigate and report on various allegations, including customs fraud.

Information was obtained from customs officials, customs unions, public and private sector officials, service recipients, and the general public for about a year.

The final report prepared herewith contains 117 recommendations and is 530 pages long.

The Presidential Media Unit stated that the final report recommended that the Sri Lanka Customs Department should be efficient and efficient in its administration and operations while discharging its responsibilities.
