In Brussels, the curtain effectively falls on the athletics season with the Diamond League final taking place over the weekend of September 13-14, featuring many of the top names in global athletics.

The Greek interest focuses on the program for Friday, when Miltiadis Tentoglou and Emmanouil Karalis will compete.

The long jump is set to begin at 20:17 Greek time, with six athletes participating. The Greek Olympic champion and holder of all available titles in the event will face Jamaican Wayne Pinnock, who finished second in Paris, Italian bronze Olympic medalist Mattia Furlani, Swiss athlete Simon Ehammer (fourth in Paris), as well as Jamaicans Tajay Gale and Carey McLeod, who placed third and fourth respectively at last year’s World Championship.

A little later (20:45), the pole vault will commence, featuring seven athletes, with the undisputed favorite being Swedish Olympic champion Armand Duplantis.

In addition to Emmanouil Karalis, the “silver” medalist from Paris, Sam Kendricks from the USA will also be present, alongside two more Americans, KC Lightfoot (holder of the national record at 6.07m) and Christopher Nilsen (who placed third last year in Budapest).

The participation lineup is completed by Frenchman Thibaut Collet and Belgian Ben Broeders.
