New Delhi : The way train accidents are happening all over the country for some time due to some reason or the other. The priority to control it was seen in the general budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In the budget, a record Rs 2,62,200 crore has been allocated to the railways. In which a large part of more than one lakh crore rupees has been given to meet the safety related needs of the railways. Which also includes installing armor. So that the collision of trains can be prevented. However, railway passengers say that the way they felt that in the budget, discounts for the elderly like before, ending the waiting list and some announcement for passenger facilities could be made. That did not happen, but still it is good that the railways will spend a lot for the safety of rail passengers in the budget. Giving information about the main points of the budget, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that if we talk about the 60 years before 2014, only 20 thousand kilometers of lines were electrified in the railways. Whereas, during the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in these 10 years, 40 thousand kilometers of railway lines have been electrified.
A large part of the budget will be spent on railway safety
Regarding the record allocation for the financial year 2024-25, the Railway Minister said that it used to be Rs 35 thousand crore in 2104. Which has increased to two lakh 62 thousand crores today. Railways will spend a large part of the budget on safety. In which installing armor will be a priority, along with laying new tracks in place of old tracks, improving the signaling system, laying new tracks, increasing double lines as per the need, building flyovers and underpasses, bringing new technology, and money will be spent on all other things related to safety.
Emphasis is being given on making more compartments
If we talk about the track, in 2014, about four kilometers of railway line was laid every day. Which has increased to more than 14 kilometers every day. Passengers should get more and more trains. For this, emphasis is being laid on making more and more trains. In the last financial year, more than 700 crore people have traveled by rail across the country. The pressure on the railways is increasing. For this, work is being done to make 2,500 additional general coaches in the current financial year. Which will be increased to 10 thousand general coaches in the coming time.
He said that continuous work is being done towards making Vande Bharat, Vande Metro, Amrit Bharat and other new types of coaches. Giving information about Kavach, Railway Minister Vaishnav said that this was never thought of during the reign of Congress. Whereas this technology had arrived in the world in 1980-1990. But after the government was formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, work was done on Kavach. On the question of less jobs in railways, he claimed that 4.11 lakh unemployed people were given jobs during the UPA regime. Whereas during the 10-year reign of Prime Minister Modi, about five lakh youth were given jobs.
