Financial Controller of the Libyan Mission in Kazakhstan Imprisoned

The Attorney General’s Office revealed that “the investigating authorities ordered the detention of the financial controller of the Libyan mission to the Republic of Kazakhstan, for spending approximately $133,000.”

The office added, “It received a report that included a statement of the actions that violate its oversight responsibilities over public funds in the state entrusted to it, and the Public Prosecutor began examining the accuracy of the facts contained in the report.”

The Attorney General’s Office explained that “investigators confirmed that the officer had disposed of $132,313 in violation of the law, in addition to stripping the former financial director of his salary rights.”

“The financial controller also hired foreign workers without contractual mandate, and disposed of state-owned movable property (scrap cars) in violation of the regulations that must be followed,” the office said.
