San Francisco The financial regulator Bafin has launched investigations into the digital currency Worldcoin. “The Bafin is investigating,” said a spokeswoman for the Handelsblatt. However, the authority generally does not comment on the details of ongoing proceedings. The cryptocurrency was launched on July 24th.

“We are monitoring Worldcoin’s activities,” said the Bafin spokeswoman. “If a company turns to the German market without the necessary permission, for example with a website or app in German, we investigate it.” However, it was initially unclear whether Worldcoin would have needed a license before starting.
