A financier traveling in a car was burnt to death when his car collided with a power pole near Palani.

A car was traveling on the Marichilampu road in the Vagarai area near Palani at around 6.30 pm today. As he approached the Maize Research Station in Vavuniya, the car suddenly lost control and sped off, crashing violently into a roadside power pole. Hearing the noise, the farmers of the neighboring plantation rushed to the spot.

Meanwhile, in a terrible collision, an electric pole fell on the car and started burning. The shocked farmers immediately poured water and tried to extinguish the fire. But the fire could not be extinguished as the entire car was engulfed in flames. Following this, the Palani fire station informed the Kallimanthaiyam police.

Palani firefighters and Kallimanthaiyam police rushed to the spot. Firefighters then doused the fire with water. The body was found charred in the driver’s seat of the car. Police later seized the body and sent it to Ottansathram Government Hospital for autopsy.

Police are investigating who drove the car. It was revealed that the person who came in the car was Sureshbabu (age 45), son of Palanisamy from Tarapuram Gandhipuram, Tirupur district, who is a financier. Following this, the police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
