Finistère: two children, a woman and a man found dead “in a context of separation”

Macabre news, this Sunday morning, rue François le Duc, in Carantec (Finistère). The small coastal town of Morlaix is ​​still in shock after the discovery in a detached house, shortly after 11 a.m., of four bodies: a man, a woman and two children. The circumstances of the tragedy are yet to be determined.

According to the first elements, it would be a 38-year-old woman, found in an upstairs bedroom, two girls aged 8 and 11 in another bedroom, each in her bed, and a man of 41 years old, whom the authorities found hanging on the ground floor, in the stairwell. The body of a dog, presumably that of the family, was also discovered.

Gendarmes, firefighters and ambulances were on site this afternoon. “A few minutes earlier, the alert was given by the mother of the wife who had not been able to reach her daughter since Saturday,” said the prosecutor on Sunday evening.

Regarding the circumstances, according to the prosecution, “the first observations made on the spot by the investigators and by the required forensic doctor did not reveal any trace of external injury or the use of a weapon on any of the bodies. The house showed no apparent disorder. The drama seems to be part of a context of separation of the couple.

The Plourin-lès-Morlaix gendarmerie research brigade is seized of the open investigation of the heads of intentional homicides. Autopsies will be performed to determine the causes of death.

As a reminder, in 2018, in Guiclan, not far from Morlaix, a man with a heavy psychiatric history strangled his wife before suffocating their two children aged 6 and 10, then killing himself with the help of a knife. In 2019, a 13-year-old child was shot dead in Plouarzel, near Brest. The alleged perpetrator, his father, had been found dead in the village. In 2021, in Relecq-Kerhuon, a mother tried to end her life after killing her two little girls, aged 4 and 6.
