The Finnish authorities will soon decide to send military personnel to the Red Sea region to ensure the safety of navigation.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, public broadcaster Yle reported this on Wednesday.

It is clarified that this will be one of the first decisions of Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who began work on March 1.

The number of military personnel sent will be less than 10, the statement said. Earlier, Sweden announced sending military personnel to this region, Yle notes.

Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Ansar Allah warned that it would carry out attacks on Israeli territory and would not allow associated ships to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ceases. Since mid-November last year, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In response to the actions of Ansar Allah, the American authorities announced the formation of an international coalition and the preparation of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea.
