Finland has begun storing ammunition reserves in Norway in case of a crisis and can provide its storage facilities for other countries’ defense materials. This was announced by the head of the military economics department of the Finnish Defense Forces, Mikko Heiskanen, to the Yle broadcaster, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
The first test batch of Finnish reserves was delivered to Norway in the fall of 2023, the authorities of the two countries entered into a corresponding intergovernmental agreement. Heiskanen noted that this is the same reserve as in Finland. “Weapons, ammunition, other materials, spare parts,” Heiskanen noted.
It is clarified that the creation of the same type of storage facility is planned in Sweden and some other countries, but there are no decisions or agreements between states yet.
The military specialist noted that countries supporting Finland can store military reserves on Finnish territory, but so far there is no more information on this issue.
