Finland will send military personnel to participate in two operations in the Red Sea region to ensure the safety of shipping. This was reported by the government office, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“Finland will participate in Operation Eunavfor Aspides with a maximum of five soldiers and in Operation Prosperity Guardian with a maximum of two soldiers,” the statement said.

Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Ansar Allah warned that it would carry out attacks on Israeli territory and would not allow associated ships to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ceases. Since mid-November last year, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In response to the actions of Ansar Allah, the American authorities announced the formation of an international coalition and the preparation of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea.
