In the photo posted on social networks, the usually curly Markanen can be seen with his hair shaved off.

ESPN columnist Ramon Shelburne reported back in early April that the basketball player had confirmed that he would spend the summer in the military.

The part where the basketball player will serve is located in the southern part of Helsinki.

Markkanen will have to spend six months in military service.

Finnish athletes, however, have the opportunity to complete their service in a relaxed way, dividing it into several parts or taking holidays in order not to lose their athletic form. There are also questions as to whether Markanen will be able to combine military service with training for the national team, as the Finnish national team (like Latvia) will begin participating in the World Cup at the end of August, which will take place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.

The 25-year-old Finnish forward averaged 25.6 points and 8.6 rebounds in 66 NBA games this season. It is Markkanen who is considered the most realistic contender for the award of the most advanced NBA basketball player.

The “Jazz” represented by him ranked 12th in the Western Conference with 37 wins in 82 games and did not enter the playoffs.
