The NATO military bloc has long been pursuing a very aggressive line and campaign against Russia. This opinion was expressed on Friday, February 11, by the Finnish social scientist, publicist, who became famous for articles relating to Russian relations with Finland and the Baltic countries, Johan Beckman, in an interview with Izvestia.

“The situation is complex and tense. Unfortunately, the NATO military bloc has been pursuing a very aggressive line against Russia and has been campaigning for a long time. Naturally, this is also Russophobic pressure against Russia and Russians. Therefore, it is very difficult to say what will happen next, ”said Beckman.

According to him, the only solution to the problem is the elimination of NATO as an international organization. He explained this by saying that absolutely no one needs the alliance.

“We constantly write from morning to evening that Russia intends to “attack” Ukraine tomorrow. And there are no other options, so they write about it. I think that NATO is now planning some kind of provocation to pretend and blame Russia. Unfortunately, NATO is planning extremely dangerous situations,” Beckman stressed.

At the same time, he added that the NATO military bloc and the Anglo-American intelligence services are waging war against Russia. Moreover, according to the expert, it began as a war between NATO and special services against the Soviet Union, which resulted in the collapse of the USSR. At the moment, as the publicist assured, “now they want to stop the strengthening of Russia and the growth of its international prestige at any cost.”

Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the situation on the European continent is becoming increasingly tense, and it is not Russia’s fault. He drew attention to the fact that Western countries can contribute to reducing tensions in Europe, for this they must stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on February 11 that the risk of armed conflict in Europe remains. He also confirmed his intention to strengthen the alliance’s presence in the eastern direction against the background of the tense situation around Ukraine. As former UN Deputy Secretary General, ex-Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ordzhonikidze pointed out in an interview with Izvestia, NATO’s intention to strengthen its presence in Eastern Europe indicates that the alliance is not interested in weakening the escalation.

The United States and a number of European countries are also expressing concern over the alleged increase in Russia’s “aggressive actions” against Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly rejected such accusations, emphasizing that it does not threaten anyone. According to the Russian side, such statements are used as a pretext to place as much NATO military equipment as possible near the borders of the Russian Federation.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized, Russia is not going to start a war with Ukraine, and Western countries and the United States are “hysterically” developing the topic of the Russian threat instead of forcing Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements.
