by Sofia Alvarez

Fiorello and Fabrizio Biggio wrapped up the week on Pennicance Friday, with a broadcast brimming with Sanremo buzz and a heartfelt message for Sicily.

Fiorello Urges Unity Amid Sicilian Weather Crisis

The show opened with concern for communities in Sicily battling severe weather, followed by a playful jab at the upcoming Sanremo Festival.

  • Fiorello expressed solidarity with Niscemi, Sicily, as the region grapples with worsening weather conditions.
  • He called for political unity, stating, “This is no time to argue,” emphasizing the need for immediate action over budgetary concerns.
  • Fiorello joked about Achille Lauro’s Sanremo co-hosting role, suggesting Rai is saving money on costumes.
  • Briga announced he and his partner are expecting a daughter in April.
  • the show concluded with a mock phone call to President Mattarella, filled with playful banter.

“you have lived all your life,” he said.

Despite the somber start,he highlighted positive developments: “The seafronts are reopening. Well done to the inhabitants, they shoveled, they got to work… this is how it’s done,we need to get up!” He then issued a direct appeal to politicians: “this is no time to argue. Money from the bridge, other money…it doesn’t count now. This is the time to act!”

Fiorello’s Sanremo Commentary: Lauro and Rai

The conversation shifted to the 2026 Sanremo Festival, following Carlo Conti’s recent statements. Fiorello joked about Achille Lauro’s upcoming co-hosting role: “Achille lauro will be co-host of the Festival! Rai thus saves money on costumes: Lauro can wear the same ones as Pausini.” He continued, suggesting Lauro might have to adjust his musical repertoire, “Otherwise he can do everything except sing ‘Rolls Royce’: will have to sing ‘Suzuki‘, which is the sponsor of the Festival… and can’t do Mengoni covers, no one can do those!”

Briga Announces Pregnancy

The show then featured a video call with Care, whose song “I Sognatori,” excluded from Sanremo, was played. Fiorello commented, “I would have taken it! Let’s be clear, no dig at Conti: he had 700 songs, it’s obvious that not too many good songs were taken.”

Briga used the opportunity to share joyful personal news: “We are expecting a little girl, will be born at the beginning of April! The name? There are ballots… we like the ones with an A, like Angelica, which is also the name of your daughter,” he said, referring to Fiorello’s daughter. He added, “The song? When we made it we didn’t know anything, then the happy news arrived and this song was a bit of a premonition…”

A surreal Call to the President

The broadcast concluded with a recurring segment-a mock phone call to President Mattarella. “Are they fining those who have the piece? Take it all down, go! But yes, they did the right thing! These things are not done! We are season ticket holders, very season ticket holders.” The conversation then took a whimsical turn, with references to a trip to Milan, a Lambo, an Ape in Moscova, and a Plastik nightclub visit, all while sporting a “tricolor ghost” and preparing to watch Sinner play.

Fiorello and Biggio will return with Pennicance Monday 2 February at 1.45pm on Rai Radio2 and on digital terrestrial channel 202.
