Kottayam: Fire broke out in the building under construction at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. The fire broke out this afternoon. The fire broke out right next to the building, which includes the cancer ward. Due to the rising fire and smoke, the patients in the nearby buildings were completely evacuated. All 25 workers in the building were transferred. Officials said that no one was injured in the incident. An eight-storey building is being constructed at the rear of the third ward. The fire started in the building where wiring supplies were stored. The initial conclusion is that the fire started due to short circuit. The hospital authorities said that they will investigate the cause of the fire. Firefighters from Kottayam extinguished the fire after more than two hours of efforts.

Crime: Attack on hospital for alleged mistake in giving insulin to pregnant woman; Case against five people

Thiruvananthapuram: Attack on private hospital in Neyyatinkara. The attack took place at the Royal City Hospital. The relatives attacked the pregnant woman alleging that there was a mistake in giving her insulin. The hospital authorities filed a complaint with the police.

The incident happened on Friday night. Athira (28), a native of Pashyakada, who was pregnant, had come to Thiruvananthapuram SAT for treatment. Due to high blood sugar level, as prescribed by SAT Hospital, he used to come to Royal City Hospital near home to take insulin.

It is alleged that he took more insulin when he took it on Friday. The doctors at SAT had prescribed two types of insulin for Athira due to her severe diabetes. According to the hospital authorities, the duty nurse at the Royal Hospital advised Athira to take insulin after seeing the doctor citing the circumstances, but the hospital authorities did not do so.

A verbal dispute over insulin error later resulted in a fight. The furniture was beaten up. The hospital authorities have filed a complaint at Poowar station stating that the doctor and nurse were also beaten up.
