14 lakh extorted from teacher in name of state police chief; Hi-tech lobby in the back

Online scam in the name of state police chief Anil Kant (DGP Anil Kant IPS). A high tech gang has swindled Rs 14 lakh from a teacher in Kollam by creating a fake WhatsApp account in the name of Anil Kant. Police have launched an investigation into a scam perpetrated by the North Indian high-tech lobby. The first message received by a teacher from Kundara, Kollam was that she had been told that she had won the online lottery.

The high-tech team sent a message asking the company to pay the tax before paying the prize money. When the teacher sent the message back, the DGP’s message came back. He said in a WhatsApp message with a picture of the DGP that he would have to pay the tax or face legal action. In a message to the DGP, he said he was currently in Delhi.

The teacher called the police headquarters to clear the suspicion. When the DGP was told that he had gone to Delhi that day, the teacher, who confirmed that the message was being sent by the DGP, fell into the trap of the Hetek group. An investigation by High Tech Cell has revealed that a fake WhatsApp account was created from a number in the name of an Assam native.

Police have launched an investigation into the scam. Fraudsters have previously created fake Facebook accounts and WhatsApp accounts in the name of police officers. The scam is being carried out in the name of the state police chief himself while the police are instructing the people to beware of cyber scams.
