However, their morning took an unexpected turn when they were abruptly awakened by the fire alarm at 7 o’clock. “It has been a nice and warm morning, so no one has been in trouble here, despite the early awakening and the involuntary stay outside,” Pernilla Wahlgren stated in an interview with Aftonbladet.
According to reports, the fire originated from a room where a curtain caught fire. The hotel staff quickly raised the alarm, prompting an immediate response from the rescue services. Ludvig Säav, the management operator at the rescue service Stor-Stockholm Mitt, confirmed that the staff noticed the fire and acted promptly.
Smoke divers were dispatched to parts of the hotel affected by smoke, while firefighters extinguished the flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the incident.
Pernilla Wahlgren expressed her gratitude towards the hotel staff for their efficient response and assured that the guests did not feel anxious during the evacuation. “We felt safe the whole time and are just very happy that it never developed into a serious fire,” she added.
The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident, suspecting public negligence. The authorities are currently questioning staff, guests, and smoke divers to gather more information regarding the fire and its cause.
Emergency services, including ambulance and police units, were promptly dispatched to the scene. By 08:30, the fire was successfully extinguished, ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
