Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Head Quarters Mohammad Yusuf Ali said that it is important for all officers and employees to have knowledge of fire fighting, emergency rescue and first aid. It is possible to escape from fire in case of emergency and avoid major accidents. Such drills are essential in order to enhance the preparedness of all workers in the building as per Bangladesh Labor Code to deal with emergency situations efficiently. Walton has always attached utmost importance to this matter.
Mohammad Yusuf Ali gave guidance on what to do in various unstable situations in Bangladesh.
Major (Retd.) Zahidul Hasan, Head of Administration Department of Walton Head Quarters, said that in any emergency moment, one must gather at a certain place with the most importance of one’s life. Through such practice we will be able to deal with any emergency situation.
Head of EHS Department. Mostafizur Rahman Raju said that fire safety is an important issue in occupational health and safety. Basically, the absence or lack of fire fighting system, shortness of escape routes and above all lack of training and awareness are responsible for major losses. Carelessness is the main cause of fire. Therefore, if everyone is aware of their own position, the risk of fire will be greatly reduced.
The exercise is organized as part of ongoing efforts to ensure workplace safety. The exercise was divided into several functional groups to ensure safe evacuation of all officers and employees in an orderly manner at the earliest and to protect company assets. Conducted by Walton EHS Division Fire Safety Management Section Engineer in charge. Ishadul Islam
