Fire in Preveza Under Control: No Active Front Remains

The fire that broke out in low vegetation in Preveza is now without an active front.

According to the Fire Department, the fire started around 3:30 PM near the area of the closed gymnasium.

The mobilization of the Fire Department was immediate as 38 firefighters with 1 ground crew from the 5th EMODE, 13 vehicles, and 7 aircraft were deployed to extinguish the fire, while construction machinery and water trucks from local authorities provided assistance.

Just before 6:00 PM, as reported by the Fire Department’s Operations Center, the fire was contained and without an active front.

Earlier, a message was sent from 112 to the residents of the area stating: “Forest fire in your area. If you are in the area of the Closed Gymnasium of Preveza, evacuate toward the area of Elaiona Preveza and Ioannina Avenue.”
