by time news

The Fire Services managed to partially control the fire that broke out in Vryses, Rhodes.

The fire that erupted shortly after 6 PM on Monday in the Vrysi area between Tsairi and Kalithies has been brought under partial control thanks to the timely mobilization of firefighting forces and volunteers.

The fire, as reported by Rodiai, was particularly dangerous as it was located in a residential area, and strong winds were blowing at that time, forcing the Ministry of Civil Protection to issue an emergency alert via the 112 system.

Strong forces from the Fire Service, volunteers, and heavy machinery rushed to the area, while the Civil Protection services of the South Aegean region and the municipality were mobilized immediately. The political heads, Mr. Eustratiou and Mr. Thomatos, were present on the front line.

The fire burned low vegetation over an area of approximately three acres according to initial estimates.
