Firestone has launched a car tire with best-in-class wet grip. Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN – successor to the Roadhawk summer touring tire was developed with the innovative ENLITEN tire technology platform, which, in addition to the best grip, provides increased mileage and improved fuel/energy consumption. Firestone’s new addition is also suitable for electric vehicles.
Enhanced performance to meet everyday challenges
In the heavy traffic, sudden stops and highway speeds that are part of everyday road challenges, the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN allows drivers to stay in control during their daily commutes.
The tire is designed with ENLITEN, a combination of cutting-edge technologies providing maximum safety, exceptional performance and improved durability characteristics. Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN, is created with innovative technology to blend and integrate NanoPro-Tech, a high-silica compound that provides stable abrasion resistance and longer mileage.
The result is a tire with significant performance improvements over the previous generation Firestone Roadhawk.
The Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN offers best-in-class wet grip, which has been awarded an EU A-Class label, along with 20% more mileage than the original Firestone Roadhawk. The other benefit of the tire is that it has a 12% reduction in rolling resistance, which optimizes the vehicle’s fuel/energy consumption.
Thanks to the use of ENLITEN, the latest version of Firestone, developed at Bridgestone‘s development center in Rome, Italy, is also suitable for electric vehicles. This means that it is able to meet both the general performance requirements of any vehicle and the specific requirements of electric vehicles.
Increased coverage representing 90% of the total summer tire market positioned in the middle class
The latest tire from Firestone is available from January 2024 in Europe and the Middle East in sizes from 17” to 21”. With 19 additional sizes compared to the original Roadhawk, the Firestone Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN launches with an increased focus on the HRD/HRD+ segment and covers 90% of the overall mid-range summer tire market. The 16″ sizes will be available from January 2025, bringing the total number of available sizes to 112.
“Daily drivers demand safety on the road, and in this environment, value for money,” said Stephen De Bock, vice president of Consumer Replacement and OE at Bridgestone EMIA. “The Roadhawk represented the best of Firestone, and now we’ve taken it to another level by introducing the incredible capabilities of ENLITEN with the Roadhawk 2 ENLITEN. And as an EV-ready tire that comes in a wider collection of sizes, the performance benefits of this tire can be brought to many more drivers.”
